Dixieland Jazz Concerts

February 13, 2012

The Lafayette is proud to play host to America’s Finest City Dixieland Jazz Society’s monthly concerts.  Every third Sunday of the month from 1-4pm the group gets together to perform in the hotel’s Mississippi Ballroom.

This month’s show (Sunday, February 19th) has the South Bay Jazz Ramblers getting us prepped for Fat Tuesday with a Mardi Gras themed performance.  You can pick up tickets here.  Those of you born after the Berlin Wall came down can come listen to  brain building music and drink mimosas for only $5.  Do something different this Sunday afternoon.  It’ll be good for you.

2012 Festival of Beers

February 10, 2012

It’s that time of year again, as the CityBeat Festival of Beers returns to El Cajon Boulevard on the doorstep of Lafayette Hotel.  The Festival takes place on Saturday, April 7th.  Doors (gates?) open at 2pm and go through 5pm.  If you have the means, we highly recommend you pick up a VIP ticket for an additional hour of tastings.  All tickets can be purchased directly from the festival site here.

This year’s event features over 40 local, regional, international breweries and craft beer taverns.  The whole shabang happens just feet from the font door.  So if you’re the type who enjoys a good nap after a day of drinking or just don’t feel like sleeping in your own bed, reserve a room for the night.  We have some great Spring rates.

The event also features live music from our good friends at Bar Pink, with performances by:

Nico Vega (Who brought sexy to the Mississippi Ballroom during NPMT back in August)
The Heavy Guilt (Killed it here on NYE!)
Hyena

It’ll be a really swell event.  Grab some people you enjoy drinking beers with and come on down.

(we’re at 2223)  All other attendee parking will be on the lovely streets of San Diego.  (Guests who’ve booked a NYE room package will be provided parking on the premises or in our garage.)  Non guests who park in the attached lots risk towing.

Doors are at 8:30PM through the main entrance on El Cajon Boulevard.

Coat check will be available at $2 a piece.

Smoking will be allowed along the pool deck.  We’ll have it vibed’ out for you.  (heat lamps!)

Please leave your flasks at home.  We’ll have plenty of drinks at blue collar prices.  You’ve been warned.

This is a hotel wide event, however some rooms have a maximum occupancy.

NYE Update

December 12, 2011

A quick update on room packages for the New Years Eve extravaganza featuring The Silent Comedy, Transfer, and more.

Do to overwhelming demand, we have sold out of the $169 room packages that included a King Bed in the main Manor building.

We do however have rooms with two Queen Beds available in the Manor building, Poolside, and in the Howard Building (we don’t have a current picture of these babies). Basically, you can now get cozy with your significant other, or grab 3 friends (or one new friend, wink) and book fast.

The rooms in the Howard building are divided by French doors into two separate bedrooms with a bathroom in each room. They have a King bed on one side, and a Twin over Full bunk bed on the other side. These are perfect for a couple and two friends. One friend who may or may not be 5’6 and 130 lbs.

So skip the paper, scissors, rock for designated driver duties, and book now.

Entertainment schedule / lineup coming soon.

Party.

All Engines Go

September 7, 2011

It’s like Christmas Eve.  (A 95 degree Christmas Eve.)

The The San Diego Music Thing kicks off this Friday at the Lafayette Hotel, running through the weekend.  The annual music conference features 2 days of interactive round-table sessions with nationally-known panelists and innovative speakers representing the best of the music business.  At night, 14 nearby venues open their doors for the Music Fest which over two nights plays host to over 150 bands.  Don’t be left out in the cold heat buy a ticket here.  Book your hotel room here.

The Weissmuller Pool will be open during the conference.  There’s going to be a gaggle of people at the hotel this weekend, so get here early.  (how many people make a gaggle?)  As always, we promise good food and entertainment.  We recommend you just stand in the shallow end and cool off until 6pm, when Low Volts will do his thing poolside on Friday the 9th.  On Saturday Blackout Party will be playing a set around 3pm, and Creepxotica will finish the day on the pool veranda at 6pm.

We’re also playing host to the San Diego Music Thing Noise Pop showcase in the Mississippi Ballroom on Friday night.  Some amazing talent on this bill:
